Hugh Coleman received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Trinity University (1990), and his law degree from University of Tulsa School of Law (1994).

He is licensed to practice law in all Texas Courts and the United States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

He has extensive litigation and trial experience and has served as an city attorney, a municipal prosecutor, an assistant county attorney and an assistant district attorney.

Prior to going into private practice in 2007, Mr. Coleman was an Assistant Criminal District Attorney/Counsel to the Denton County Sheriff's Office (1999-2006) where he provided advice to the Denton County Sheriff's Departments and Denton County Constables as to all legal matters and daily business.

His specific duties included representation of Denton County and the Denton County Sheriff's Office in all types of litigation ranging from civil rights and employment lawsuits to tort and negligence claims, drafting and implementing policies and standard operating procedures, drafting and negotiating contracts for Denton County and the Denton County Sheriff's Office, and guidance in pending criminal matters.

Before joining the Denton County Criminal District Attorney's Office he was an Assistant County Attorney for El Paso County (1995-1998), where he advised and defended El Paso County, the El Paso County Commissioners Court, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, and other County agencies in all types of civil litigation. He also prosecuted criminal matters and bail bond proceedings on behalf of the State of Texas.
